Do you live with or know someone who blames their irresponsibility and problems on others? Someone who is arrogant and haughty, and while being nice to strangers and people outside of their family, is cold hearted and lacking in empathy to those closest to them at work or at home?

This person may have a fantasy life which they live for, excluding the people who they should be sharing intimate time with, such as their partner and children. This fantasy life may include porn addiction or spending time writing to people online (or real life affairs) or it may be completely cerebral and in their own head.

Narcissistic individuals create chaos in the organisations that they work for and destruction and despair at home. They will lie while giving little thought to the consequences of their actions and blame their crimes on the very people who they exploit. They will also be irresponsible and controlling with money.

If this sounds like someone you know, it is very important that you learn to not let this person make you overly emotional or upset or they will use this against you and make you out to be the aggressor or ‘crazy’, and this is a big part of their game. I know that when I was dealing with Steve before he got better, I often felt that his heart was completely switched off.

Please do not believe the people who say there is nothing you can do!

We are living proof that this is not the case and it is very important that you do seek help. NPD does not go away by itself and the situation will continue to deteriorate until you learn to stand up for yourself and get help.
