Do you live with or know someone who blames their irresponsibility and problems on others? Someone who is arrogant and haughty, and while being nice to strangers and people outside of their family, is cold hearted and lacking in empathy to those closest to them at work or at home?

Narcissistic individuals create chaos in the organizations that they work for and destruction and despair at home. They will lie while giving little thought to the consequences of their actions and blame their crimes on the very people they exploit while being irresponsible and controlling with money.

This person may have a fantasy life which they live for, excluding the people who they should be sharing intimate time with, such as their partner and children. This fantasy life may include alcohol, drugs, porn or computer game addiction, emotional or real life affairs, reading romance novels or watching TV. Their fantasy life may also be completely cerebral and in their own head.

This person may also provoke you into becoming overly emotional or upset and use this against you - making you out to be aggressive or ‘crazy’, so they can blame their problems on you.

They will also pay no attention if you tell them their behavior is hurting you, and I know that before Steve got better, I often felt that his heart was completely switched off.

Please don’t believe the people who say there is nothing you can do!

We are living proof that this is not the case and it is very important that you do seek help. NPD does not go away by itself and the situation will continue to deteriorate until you learn to stand up for yourself and get help.
